Upside of your freezing office: You may be burning more calories
Wed Jan 22, 2014
The referenced medical journal paper seemed to also say that exposure to cold temperatures increases LDL cholesterol and artereal plaques.
Search and rescue: Google-owned robot is new disaster response champ
Mon Dec 23, 2013
The Wright Brothers first flight lasted only 12 seconds over a distance of 120'. Now flying in an airplane is a common occurance. This is just the beginning of the age of robots. They will continuously improve until they too are commonplace.
Rugged Mars terrain chewing up Curiosity's wheels; inspection set
Fri Dec 20, 2013
I think the clearly machined-in square holes are there to eject dirt and pebbles that could accumulate inside the wheel. There may be smaller punctures that aren't readily visible in the pictures. For an aluminum wheel speding a lot of time going over rocks, they don't look that bad.
Comic Sans 'Doge' takes bite out of 'Unflattering Beyonce' to win Internet in 2013
Fri Dec 13, 2013
I think the "Doge" meme has deeper meaning than at first glance. The misspelling of the word Dogqie as Doge was first seen in the old Pokemon video game ,"You have encountered a Doge" (pronounced Doggie). Then it pops up later in the 2005 You Tube puppet video 'Biz Cas Fri', Homestar also misp …

Tue Dec 10, 2013
The northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun right now but the global average temps are increasing, most of which is being absorbed by the ocean which covers 70% of the planet. Increasing ocean temperatures cause more moisture to evaporate into the atmosphere. When all that water hits the col …

Sat Dec 7, 2013
All that snow and ice is coming from mega tons of evaporated water hitting seasonal cold (the northern hemisphere of the earth tilts away from the sun in the winter). It takes heat to evaporate water and that is coming from warming oceans. Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Snow and ice storms are caused by wea …
Wounded in Afghanistan, troops begin healing in Germany
Wed Dec 4, 2013
I made the C-130 trip to Landstuhl from Iraq in 2008. I saw the medivac process first hand. It's a very impressive and efficient operation. It was also sobering to see all the young soldiers on stretchers stacked 3 high like cord wood with multiple injuries from IED's. Many on my flight were only 19 …
LAX suspect had 'patriot' movement propaganda on him, expert says
Sat Nov 2, 2013
The Patriot Movement and the Patriot Act both dilute and sully the word by corrupting it's meaning for political purposes. I now equate anyone who uses the word Patriot to justify spying on citizens, unwarrantable searches, and execution by drone AND terrorists (foreign or domestic) who recruit gull …
